Gastroenterologist VA Medical Center, San Antonio, TX

Wander Staffing is hiring four (4) Gastroenterologists for our exclusive contract supporting the VA in San Antonio, TX.

LOCATION: Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital (VAMC), 7400 Merton Minter Street, San Antonio, TX 78229

START DATE / DURATION:

• Hiring now ( There is leeway for notice to your current employer, if applicable ).
• 5-year contract with options to extend ( The duration of the contract is between the government and us. Like any other job, if you must leave, we request a 60-day notice ).

COMPENSATION:

• Enjoy Locums pay with full-time stability!
• $425/hr . regular on-site hours
• $45/hr. on-call
• $450/hr . call-back (Call back is rare, historically only 4 call-back events/month, or about 15 hours/month across the entire department)
• Example Annual Compensation: $840,000/year . Assumes 1,760 regular hours (8 weeks off), one week plus one weekend of on-call per month, and 3 callback hours per on-call week.
• 1099, all-inclusive

SCHEDULE:

• Clinic hours: M-F 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
• Weekday call: 4:30 PM 8:00 AM
• Weekend call: Friday 4:00 PM Monday 7:30 AM.
• Call is from home; respond by phone within 15 minutes and, if called back, arrive onsite within 60 minutes

QUALIFICATIONS:

• ABIM Board Certified/Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
• Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any State.
• BLS, ACLS.
• Credentialing & Security: Must complete credentialing, privileging, and background/security vetting prior to start; process typically takes 2 3 weeks.

ROLE / CLINICAL SCOPE:

• Provide comprehensive Gastroenterology care to Veterans; approximately 90% direct patient care.
• See patients independently in outpatient Gastroenterology clinics and manage Gastroenterological and hepatobiliary disorders.
• Provide inpatient GI consults, rounding, and procedures.
• Perform endoscopic procedures, including the full range of colonoscopy and EGD procedures within granted privileges.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

• Join three full-time VA Gastroenterologists.
• Procedures include: EGD diagnostic, EGD with biopsies, EGD with banding (EVL), EGD with removal of foreign body, EGD with PEG placement, EGD with treatment of bleeding sources, EGD with dilation, flexible sigmoidoscopies, colonoscopy diagnostic, colonoscopy with treatment of bleeding sources, colonoscopy with polypectomy, colonoscopy with colonic decompression. No ERCP or EUS
• Typical number of patients per day: Outpatient 10 procedures. Inpatient 5-10 consults and 1-10 procedures.
• Ratio is approximately 60:40 anesthesia-to-moderate sedation.
