Heavy-Duty Diesel Maintenance Technician III

Department: Maintenance

Reports to: Manager – Murray Maintenance

FLSA Status: Hourly

You arrive at the bay, gear up, and dive into a full schedule: preventive inspections guided by FMCSA standards, unscheduled repairs on tractors and trailers, and the occasional minor body repair to keep our fleet road-ready. You work with limited supervision, document every detail with accuracy, and make sure parts are allocated to the correct unit. Your workspace stays clean and safe, and you may coach Level 1 techs on best practices. Every task follows established procedures so our drivers can roll safely and on time.

• Perform routine preventive maintenance and vehicle inspections aligned with FMCSA inspection guidelines.
• Handle a variety of non-scheduled repairs on trucks and trailers with limited supervision.
• Record all work on work orders and inspection forms; enter accurate data and allocate parts to specific equipment.
• Keep assigned work areas clean and well maintained.
• Take on other related duties as assigned by management.

• High school diploma or GED; vocational training preferred; preparation for CDL is a plus.
• 2–4 years of hands-on tractor/trailer maintenance experience in a commercial garage or fleet leasing company (minimum 2 years).
• Degree in Diesel Mechanics preferred.
• Core skills: computer literacy, clear communication, strong organization, and advanced problem-solving.
• Ability to perform under pressure and juggle multiple priorities effectively.
