Lead Peri-Operative Assistant

Department: Operating Room

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Afternoon Shift, Includes weekends

Location: Clinton Township, MI

General Summary:

Under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, provides service support for assigned Surgical Services area(s) related to building services, patient transport, and patient preparation. Assists Surgical Services personnel in the positioning and maintenance of patient safety. Reports directly to the Surgical Services Leadership Team. Leads a team of four or more perioperative assistants.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
• At least two years of experience as a Peri-Operative Assistant (POA) required.
• Must possess and maintain BLS-A certification.
• Prolonged standing, walking, bending and lifting.
• Physical ability to lift patients and move patients, supplies and equipment.
• Works in a patient care area environment which may include extreme temperature variations, exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, radiation, laser, and hazardous gases.
