Construction Superintendent

Fast Casual Restaurant & Supermarket Construction Locations: Florida and Mid-Atlantic Region (VA, NC, SC, MD, DC) Travel Required: 75-100% Employment Type: Full-Time Build Projects That Matter. We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to join our growing team and lead ground-up, renovation, and open-store remodel projects throughout Florida and the Mid-Atlantic region. This position is ideal for a Superintendent who thrives in fast-paced environments and has successfully delivered projects for fast-casual restaurant brands, grocery stores, supermarkets, retail, and food-service clients. The ideal candidate understands how to execute projects safely, maintain aggressive schedules, coordinate multiple trades, and deliver exceptional quality while operating in occupied facilities. Our Superintendents are the CEOs of their projects. They own safety, schedule, quality, subcontractor coordination, client relationships, and project execution from mobilization through closeout. What You'll Do Take complete ownership of assigned projects from preconstruction through final turnover. Lead field operations and serve as the primary on-site representative. Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, inspectors, and client stakeholders. Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules to support overall project milestones. Identify issues early and proactively develop solutions to maintain project momentum. Schedule Management Understand and manage the project's critical path. Drive project milestones and hold trade partners accountable to commitments. Plan work in advance to ensure labor, materials, inspections, and equipment are available when needed. Coordinate work to minimize impacts on occupied facilities and business operations. Maintain project schedules and aggressively pursue on-time or ahead-of-schedule completion. Safety Leadership Promote a culture where everyone goes home safe every day. Conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks. Ensure subcontractor compliance with company and client safety standards. Immediately address unsafe conditions and behaviors. Maintain complete project safety documentation. Quality Control Understand project plans, specifications, and trade scopes in detail. Inspect work continuously throughout construction. Implement a "Punch As You Go" mentality. Ensure installations meet company, client, and jurisdictional standards. Deliver projects with minimal punch list items and zero rework mentality. Communication & Coordination Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings. Communicate clearly and professionally with owners, architects, engineers, project managers, and trade partners. Issue meeting recaps, action items, and look-ahead schedules. Maintain proactive communication regarding project risks, schedule impacts, and field conditions. Foster a collaborative, team-first environment. Documentation & Technology Complete daily reports and project documentation. Maintain daily project photos, workforce logs, deliveries, weather impacts, and safety observations. Utilize Procore or similar construction management software. Track inspections, permits, RFIs, submittals, and project correspondence. Project Closeout Manage inspections, punch lists, certificates of occupancy, and final approvals. Coordinate turnover documentation and as-built information. Ensure a smooth project transition to the client and operations team. Preferred Project Experience Candidates should possess significant experience in one or more of the following: Fast Casual Restaurant Construction Chipotle Chick-fil-A Shake Shack Grocery & Supermarket Construction Publix Harris Teeter Food Lion Kroger Wegmans Whole Foods Aldi Lidl Similar grocery and food-retail environments Experience with: Site Work Open-store renovations is highly desirable. Qualifications Required 5+ years as a Superintendent on commercial construction projects. Experience managing multiple subcontractor trades simultaneously. Strong understanding of commercial construction sequencing. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings. Experience managing project schedules and milestone tracking. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Procore, Microsoft Office, and construction technology platforms. Ability to travel extensively throughout assigned territories. Preferred 8+ years of Superintendent experience. Experience with fast-casual restaurant construction. Experience with supermarket or grocery store construction. Experience with occupied renovations and phased construction. OSHA 30 Certification. First Aid/CPR Certification.
