Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | No block scheduling | Expected 3 shifts per week | 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule | Holiday requirement includes one major and one minor holiday

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity telemetry setting with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing diagnoses including pneumonia, CHF, COPD, end-stage renal disease, post-cath lab, and respiratory distress
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips using Phillips monitoring systems; sign off on strips reviewed by monitor technicians — strip reading proficiency is required
• Administer and manage IV drips including amiodarone, Cardizem, and heparin (non-titrating)
• Deliver primary care nursing in a resource-limited environment; may function without consistent tech support
• Float between units within the primary facility (3 North, 2 South, ER med-surg/tele holds) as well as to a secondary facility approximately 9 miles away to cover telemetry and med-surg assignments
• Complete unit-specific orientation including one shift on the home unit, one shift on each additional unit, and orientation at the secondary facility

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in California
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2–3 years of RN experience in a telemetry or comparable acute care setting
• Demonstrated experience managing IV drips (amiodarone, Cardizem, heparin)
• Ability and willingness to float to a second facility location (approximately 9 miles away)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience strongly preferred
• Experience with chest tubes
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR
• Experience caring for post-surgical, orthopedic, and cardiac patient populations
