Carthage Area Hospital Carthage, NY Clerical/Registration/Medical Records Full Time, day shift, 8am-4pm Posted 07/24/2026 Req # 9658 Internal Posting Dates: July 24, 2026-July 31, 2026 CAH-Patient Accounting– Billing Clerk – Full Time- Day Shift- 8a-4p-Req 9658 Pay Range- Uncertified: $22.97-$29.57* Certified: $24.30-$32.43* A Billing Clerk is responsible for performing all functions required in preparing third-party claim forms for submission, both electronically and by paper. Familiar with basic claim submission rules and forms. Perform all necessary follow up procedures to obtain proper payment from third parties. Answer all inquiries pertaining to billing functions. Provides general assistance and support to business office, including complete patient account representation in compliance with state and federal regulations. Reports To: Billing Office Manager Education: Required: High School diploma/GED Minimum two years patient account experience Preferred: Hospital/Medical office experience (desired) Medical Billing Certification through an accredited organization Preferred: LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: AMBA (American Medical Billing Association) CMRS (Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist) HFMA (Healthcare Financial Management Association) CRCR (Certified Revenue Cycle Representative) Required: TRAINING and EXPERIENCE: Problem solving skills Knowledge of medical terminology Ability to read EOB’s (explanation of benefits) Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 coding Skill in basic data entry; 10-key proficiency Skill in using a computer Ability to exhibit cooperation, flexibility, and provide assistance when interfacing with patients, physician and staff Ability to multi-task Skill in organizing and reporting information that is accurate and complete Knowledge of basic math skills Understanding and respecting the need for confidentiality Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all staff Ability to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions Ability to sit for long periods of time Ability to communicate effectively in person and on the phone Consistency and timeliness in attendance The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
