Job Location: Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW)

This position is on site. 

Job Type: Temporary Contact 

Work Hours: Monday -Friday 8:30-5:00pm (40) hour per week 

Position Summary

The Audio-Visual Coordinator supports the DPW&T Communications Team by capturing, producing, and publishing engaging visual content that highlights the department’s programs, services, employees, field operations, community activities, and special events.

This position requires an individual who is comfortable working both in an office environment and in the field. The Audio-Visual Coordinator will regularly travel throughout the community to accompany DPW&T field crews, visit active worksites, attend public events, and document department activities through photography, video and social media content.

The ideal candidate is creative, adaptable, organized, and able to communicate effectively with employees, residents, community partners, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Capture high-quality video and photography of DPWT field operations, projects, employees, community events, meetings, worksites, and department initiatives.
• Record and produce video content for social media, websites, presentations, public information campaigns, and other communication platforms.
• Provide live video coverage and live streaming support for events, announcements, community activities, and other department functions.
• Travel with DPWT field crews and communications staff to document work occurring throughout the community.
• Work safely and effectively at active construction sites, transportation facilities, public works locations, and other field environments.
• Create short-form video, photographs, interviews, behind-the-scenes content, and other engaging material for social media.
• Assist with posting and scheduling content across DPWT social media platforms.
• Monitor social media channels and help identify opportunities to highlight DPWT services, projects, employees, and community impact.
• Edit video, photographs, audio, and other digital media for public distribution.
• Assist with developing creative concepts and visual storytelling strategies for communications campaigns.
• Coordinate with Communications Team members, field supervisors, project managers, leadership, and other staff to identify upcoming content opportunities.
• Maintain and organize photography, video, audio, and digital media files.
• Prepare and maintain cameras, microphones, lighting, tripods, mobile devices, and other audio-visual equipment.
• Provide audio-visual support for press events, community meetings, presentations, internal events, and off-site activities.
• Ensure communications materials are professional, accurate, timely, and consistent with DPWT branding and messaging.
• Perform other communications and audio-visual duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of social media platforms and digital content creation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally with employees, community members, leadership, and external partners.
• Experience with photography, videography, video production, or audio-visual equipment.
• Ability to capture compelling content in fast-moving field environments.
• Basic to intermediate video and photo editing skills.
• Ability to create engaging content appropriate for social media audiences.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a communications team.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing schedules, locations, weather conditions, and field assignments.
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout the community to worksites, field operations, community events, and other off-site locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, multimedia production, or a related field.
• Experience managing or creating content for organizational social media accounts.
• Experience with video editing, photography editing, graphic design, or digital media software.
• Experience producing interviews, short-form social videos, informational videos, or live broadcasts.
• Familiarity with public-sector, transportation, infrastructure, public works, or community-focused communications is a plus.
