Horizon House, Inc. is a nationally recognized provider of services to adults with support needs due to developmental disabilities, behavioral health issues, and substance abuse. Horizon House is Pennsylvania’s oldest psychiatric rehabilitation agency. Since 1952, we have been dedicated to helping people with mental illness, drug and alcohol addictions, developmental/intellectual disabilities, and homelessness to stabilize their lives and to help them live as independently as possible in the community. With over 100 locations throughout South and Northeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware, Horizon House provides services to a diverse population, focusing on individual strengths and choice.

Responsibilities include the following:

Purpose:
· Provide services to homeless individuals encountered in the Cafe during hours mandated by the City of Philadelphia’s Coordinated Cafe Initiative.
· Engage homeless persons into accepting appropriate services, which may include the facilitation of voluntary/involuntary hospitalizations and/or referrals to other supports.
· Implement the overall mission, values and beliefs of Horizon House in all aspects of the job.

Supervision Received:
· Receives direct supervision from the Supervisor, Hope Café.

Supervision Exercised:
· N/A

Qualifications:
· High School diploma or GED and a minimum of (3) years of relevant experience in substance abuse counseling; or any combination of experience, education or training that would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required.
· Experience in working with Drug and Alcohol affected clients preferred
· Strong interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a focused team.
· Mental Health knowledge desired

Scope:
· Frequent talking and listening.
· Requires the ability to lift, carry, fold, kneel, reach, stack, stoop and bend which may include direct intervention with clients.
· Requires the ability to appropriately interact with and support individuals in dealing with crisis situations.
· May require possession of a valid driver's license.
· May require working varied shifts.
