Senior Dams Engineer Date: Jun 8, 2026 Location: Phoenix, AZ, US; Tucson, AZ, US Company: Black & Veatch Family of Companies Key Responsibilities Communicating and working directly with client counterparts to understand key interests for developing technical solutions to their infrastructure challenges, providing ideas and strategies to deliver projects from concept to closeout. Translating client direction into efficient workplans and coordinating with project team members to deliver high-quality work products. Creating written technical documents, technical drawings, specifications, cost estimates, alternatives analyses, and other common engineering deliverables. Having familiarity with design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes relevant to the industry. Demonstrating the ability to leverage knowledge of general engineering principles including hydraulics, civil/structural design, geotechnical considerations, and mechanical systems to generate unique, engineered solutions. Preparing and overseeing the preparation of calculations and design documents. Participating in equipment procurement and construction management processes. Managing and mentoring junior engineers. Providing support to business development teams for pursuit activities with the opportunity to lead projects that you pursue and acquire. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or Business Familiarity with state and federal regulatory requirements for dams and hydropower clients Minimum Qualifications Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing or equivalent experience in Engineering work. Minimum of 11 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and supports where necessary. Work Environment/Physical Demands: Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments. May be subject to extreme cold (temperatures below 30 degrees for periods of more than one hour), extreme heat (temperatures above 90 degrees for periods of more than one hour), hazards (electrical currents, working on scaffold).
