In this role, you will be responsible for transporting lumber and building materials to customers, job sites, and other locations as needed. The ideal candidate will have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), a strong work ethic, and excellent driving skills, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities:
- Delivery Operations:
- Safely operate company trucks to transport lumber and building materials to customer locations and job sites.
- Verify delivery orders for accuracy and completeness before departing for deliveries.
- Ensure that loads are properly secured and adhere to weight limits and safety regulations.
- Customer Service:
- Interact professionally with customers at delivery sites, ensuring materials are delivered on time and in good condition.
- Assist customers with unloading materials, providing support as needed to ensure a smooth delivery process.
- Address any customer inquiries or concerns in a courteous and timely manner.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any maintenance issues or safety concerns to management.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle, ensuring it is in good working condition at all times.
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire checks, and general upkeep of delivery vehicles.
- Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all state and federal driving regulations, as well as company policies related to safety and transportation.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle inspections, and any incidents or accidents that occur.
- Participate in safety training and adhere to all safety protocols while on the road and at delivery sites.
- License: Valid CDL (Class A or B) with a clean driving record.
- Experience: Previous experience as a truck driver, preferably in the transportation of building materials or similar products.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for transporting goods.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, and to perform physical tasks related to loading and unloading deliveries.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.
