About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Current Nursing License Certifications: BLS, Current EFM certification (prefer AWHONN) Must-Have: EFM interpretation, SVE, IV starts, manage Magnesium Sulfate Description: The unit consists of 16 labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum beds. There are 2 operating room suites and 6 triage rooms available. The unit handles approximately 1000 births each year. The nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Pitocin. The unit employs OB techs and front desk schedulers for support. An OB/Neonatologist is available on call 24/7. Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, with the capability to start vents and transport patients. RNs read EFM tracings and monitor strips. The EFM system in use is Fetalink. Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours with a weekend requirement of 1 full weekend every 3 weeks. There is a holiday requirement of 1 major and 1 minor holiday. The position includes an on-call requirement for 18 hours every 4-week schedule. The dress code consists of hospital-laundered scrubs provided. Unit-specific orientation is included for all new staff. The electronic health record system utilized is Cerner Power Chart Maternity. Cancellation policy allows the facility to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
