Associate Researcher I - Hematology & Medical Oncology

An Associate Researcher I position is currently available within the laboratory of Dr. Ginzburg within the Tisch Cancer Center, division of Hematology/Medical Oncology. The laboratory focuses on understanding the mechanisms by which iron metabolism and regulator therein contribute to pathophysiology in a variety of malignant and non-malignant conditions. Using a strong combination of mouse models, primary patient samples, and cell lines when needed, microscopy techniques (RNAScope, confocal and FRET microscopy), cutting edge high-throughput tools, flow cytometry, as well as molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, we are able to dissect mechanisms thereof. The candidate will have a unique opportunity to work in a stimulating scientific environment.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized and highly motivated individual who will be responsible for daily maintenance/ care of laboratory operations as well as performing laboratory work in support of scientific research conducted in the lab. The individual will report directly to a Principal Investigator.
The Associate Researcher I is a laboratory research position, responsible for independent conduct of routine and standardized experiments. This individual assists in the interpretation of research outcomes, performs assays to support research studies, and assists in the clerical and supply aspects of the laboratory environment.
Responsibilities- Conducts experiments using advanced research techniques specific to subject matter of the research project.
- Analyzes and assists in interpreting moderately complex results.
- Performs assays to support research studies.
- Assists in the collection, analysis and review of experimental data for publication and presentation.
- Maintain accurate records of experiments performed (with any protocol modifications / errors), samples in storage (properly labeled for future use), and reagents (including purchase and storage dates).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in science or related field required
- No experience required. One year of research experience preferred.
- Preferred:
- Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques such as tissue culture, molecular biology skills such as DNA isolation, PCR, flow cytometry and electrophoresis and protein biochemistry.
- Experience in microscopy, immunofluorescence techniques as well as live cell imaging and in vivo imaging skills highly desirable.
- Willing to work with rodents and comfortable with mice handling.
- Excellent organizational, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of standard research concepts.
- Candidate must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively.

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58661 - $80211.02 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
