Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current RN license Certifications: AHA ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS, Telemetry Must-Have: - 2+ years of nursing experience for first-time travelers - Experience with telemetry monitoring - Proficiency with EPIC EMR Description: The position is for a nurse in a progressive care unit. The unit primarily serves adult patients requiring care after traumatic injuries. Examples of injuries include gunshot wounds, assaults, motor vehicle crashes, and falls. The unit has a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, flexing to 1:5 as needed. Telemetry monitoring is required for up to 14 patients. Nurses must manage hemodynamically stable patients. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Essential skills include administering blood products, managing central lines, and interpreting dysrhythmias. The nurse will work with surgical trauma patients and assist in various special procedures. Weekend coverage is required, with six weekend shifts every six-week schedule. Experience with trauma level I or II is preferred. Travelers may be required to float to other units as needed based on census. Modules are to be completed pre-start and are billable for additional hours. All candidates must demonstrate competency in specialized skills.
