Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis, Mental Health) Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM Experience: Minimum Years of Experience Required License: Valid Registered Nurse License Certifications: Relevant Nursing Certifications Preferred Must-Have: Flexibility with shifts, hours, and days due to facility needs Description: Provides professional nursing care to inmates or consumers housed in a state-operated facility. Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients. Makes nursing rounds and takes and records vital signs. Prepares and administers prescribed medications and treatment plans. Monitors restrained patients on a timely basis. Provides immediate medical attention in emergencies. If assigned, schedules, assigns, and reviews work of lower-level staff. Participates in staff development and education. Reviews care plans written by staff. Trains and orients new employees. In a corrections medical center, responsible for all health care of bedridden inmates. Evaluates care needed and rendered, develops care plans, and teaches healthcare principles. Administers medication including narcotics and renders all direct nursing care as needed. Performs specialized procedures such as IV therapy, wound care, and dialysis. Organizes and oversees the code blue team. Directs healthcare staff assigned to the area. Acts as lead worker in charge of an assigned shift in the absence of a senior nurse. Assists physicians in giving diagnostic evaluations. Performs clerical tasks such as charting and recording all medications and treatments. Completes required reports and documents pertinent medical information. Orders supplies and maintains inventory of controlled drugs and medication. Arranges for outpatient clinic appointments and medical examinations. Performs administrative tasks and serves as a liaison within the organization. Conducts and attends meetings. Serves as an instructor on occasion. Participates as a member or leader of problem-solving teams or groups.
