Director of Information Technology

Bishop O'Connell High School, Arlington, VA, seeks a dynamic and forward-thinking candidate for the position of Director of Information Technology. This senior level role reports to the Principal and provides strategic leadership, planning, and management to all areas of information technology. The Director will manage staff, develop campus-wide technology policies, and oversee all IT operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with the school’s academic and administrative leadership to implement information technologies that support the school’s mission.
• Develop strategies to integrate technology into the curriculum.
• Manage IT resources including personnel, budgets, network infrastructure, academic and administrative systems, security systems, and VoIP phone services.
• Lead and support a team of full‑ and part‑time IT staff and oversee help desk operations.
• Provide a high‑quality technology support environment for faculty, staff, and students.
• Establish and enforce IT standards, procedures, and policies.
• Identify and eliminate security risks; develop user and data security policies aligned with best practices.
• Create and administer operating and capital budgets with the CFO; prepare progress and budget reports.
• Build and maintain relationships with outside vendors.

Skills and Experience

• Minimum five years of significant IT leadership experience; preferred in an educational environment.
• Ability to articulate a vision for IT and develop strategic and operational plans in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong IT teams and effective partnerships through communication and interpersonal skills.
• High commitment to quality, customer‑oriented services in a fast‑paced, high‑standard organization.
• Experience in analysis, implementation, and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service, pleasant and outgoing personality.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and projects.
• Solid knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking and virtualization (Hyper‑V, Microsoft Server OS, Active Directory, SANs, VLANs, wireless, firewalls).
• Strong understanding of security protocols and best practices.
• Familiarity with FERPA and HIPAA regulations.

Compensation

Salary range $80,000–$120,000, depending on skills and experience. Full benefits include paid FML, medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 403(b) and retirement plans.

Education

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in IT, Educational Technology or related field.
