Duties SummaryThis position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Deputy Commandant for Mission Support (DCMS), Office of Security Policy & Management (DCMS-34), Security Center (DCMS-342), Chesapeake, VA.ResponsibilitiesAs a Supervisory Personnel Security you will serve as the Adjudication Services Branch Chief and provides technical adjudicative guidance and direction to military, civilian, contractor, auxiliary and reserve personnel supporting adjudicative functions. Develops and recommends SECCEN procedures and standards which contribute to the overall Coast Guard Personnel Security Vetting Program.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:Managing multiple teams of adjudicators in the Civilian General Schedule.Managing adjudication of suitability, security, and credentialing; including interim security clearance, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) adjudications, Accessions, Reciprocity, and Yankee White processing.Managing the central adjudicative operations of the SECCEN Adjudication Services Branch in accordance with Agency-wide Personnel Security Vetting.Conducting Personnel Security evaluations of work products regarding Security and Public Trust designations of civilian positions and all other aspects related to SECCEN operations.Recommending and collaborating on the development of procedural processes that impact on SECCEN operations based on personal observations, experience, and evaluations of the Personnel Security Vetting Program.Travel RequiredOccasional travel - This position requires occasional travel. QualificationsTo qualify for the GS-14: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular abilities, skills and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position.Examples of specialized experience include:Comprehensive knowledge of Personnel Security Federal vetting requirements.Comprehensive knowledge of Personnel Security regulations, policies and practices including security, suitability and credentialing adjudication;Oversight of Personnel Security teams or operations to support security, suitability, and credentialing adjudications.Preparing correspondence, reports, briefs, and addressing metrics related to Personnel Security matters.Implementing new initiatives and spearheading change management for efficiency and effectiveness in CAF operations;Evaluating organization's Personnel Security program policies or processes and making recommendations to senior leadership;Establish priority of operations for subordinate staff members and ensuring Personnel Security goals are achieved.Preparing oral/written briefs and presentations on complex Personnel Security topics to apprise high-level officials;Leading, training, and supervising employees.
