Emergency Room Tech, Full-time Days

Job Description The ER Tech is responsible for all basic patient care duties. This includes, but is not limited to, therapeutic treatment as ordered by the physician on duty, operation of laboratory equipment, patient discharge, and education. Triage all patients upon arrival to determine their location of treatment. (Emergency room versus urgent care) Provide general patient care. This includes therapeutic and diagnostic intervention. Provide age and education-specific education to all patients. Assure a clean work environment. This may include duties often reserved for housekeeping services, such as emptying trash, mopping floors, and cleaning counters. Follow all company policies. Follow all HIPAA policies and procedures. Encourage a work environment that is friendly and respectful. Provide patients and their families with a customer-focused, friendly, reassuring, and open environment that encourages patient participation in health care decisions. Accurately interpret a physician’s instructions. Assist the physician on duty with the treatment of patients. Communicate with the physician regarding the patient's needs and client feedback, and the operations coordinator's observation. Collect specimens and conduct laboratory tests. Review and uphold lab policies and procedures. Collaborate with health team members to ensure the patient's well-being as evidenced by staff/client feedback. Support the efforts of team members. Execute physician orders, including administration of medications, treatments, and IVs according to policy and procedure. Observe and document the patient's response to pertinent medications. Prepare specimens and operate lab equipment. 100% attendance at mandatory skills training yearly. Maintain all required professional certifications and licenses. Participate in any and all certifications of the facility. Complete yearly assigned education on time. Attend a minimum of four staff meetings and read and sign all minutes of meetings not attended. Patient education and discharge instructions. Follow infection control and OSHA safety guidelines. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires intermittent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching as well as lifting and supporting patients. This job operates in a healthcare setting. ER Technologist must understand and accept the possibility of exposure to inside environmental conditions, such as radiation, noise, infectious/communicable diseases, blood and blood borne diseases, chemicals and/or chemical fumes, odors, gases and dusts. This position does require working near moving mechanical parts and being exposed to toxic or caustic materials. This position would require moderate noise from phones, computers, printers and medical equipment. The position does require standing, walking, sitting, use of hands, and reaching. The position may also require climbing, kneeling or crouching. Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call). Qualifications Responsibilities and required qualifications for the position include: LVN, EMT-P certification or diploma. Current BLS & ACLS certification (or 60 days upon hire). Current PALS/ENPC certification (or 60 days upon hire). High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Use of medical terminology. Performance of diagnostic procedures. Quality focus. Technical understanding. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and follow HIPAA regulations. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Basic math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Completion of company provided laboratory testing education and competency.
