LUH72 Aircraft Mechanic 2 (A&P)

Overview The LUH72 Aircraft Mechanic II performs the full range of military tactical aircraft maintenance and maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty. Responsibilities Maintain and repair aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition and/or operation. Interpret technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturer’s manuals and technical publications. Lead teams through complex aircraft-related tasks and maintain aircraft logs and records in the Government STAMIS system. Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies and components (engines, rotors, transmissions, flight controls). Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems; prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks. Perform scheduled inspections, special inspections, and limited maintenance operational checks. Diagnose and troubleshoot aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment. Operate and maintain tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment. Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required. If designated, perform aircraft condition evaluations (ACE) and FEDS operation. Use respiratory protective equipment (RPE) when required. Minimum Requirements Valid, up-to-date A&P license. Two (2) years aviation maintenance experience. Three (3) years rotary‑wing aircraft experience. Two (2) years of experience on the assigned Mission Design Series. All experience must be within the five (5) most recent years. Must be U.S. citizenship to obtain facility credentials/authorization. Must provide own tools and toolbox; all tools must be properly labeled and plotted with PID. FAA Powerplant License; if not, at least five (5) years documented as a Flexible Engine Diagnostic System (FEDS) operator. DoD EPA Refrigerant Processing Certificate Section 608 Technician Certification (Universal) or Minimum Type II if designated. Three (3) years of crane operation experience if assigned to crane operator duties. Knowledge and Skills Good communication skills and adaptability. Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and associated systems principles. Knowledge of quality control, production, and supply procedures. Proficiency with hand tools, gauges, torque wrenches, scales, and diagnostic equipment specific to aircraft models. Ability to read, apply, and interpret technical data. Problem‑solving skills for entire aircraft systems. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring or uncomfortable positions. Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Use of mechanical devices for heavy lifting. Work in hangars or outdoors, potentially in extreme weather and adverse infrastructure conditions. Exposure to extreme noise, fumes, airborne particles, electrical shock hazards, and moving mechanical parts. #J-18808-Ljbffr
