You design mechanical systems that can’t fail — in labs, healthcare, mission critical, and other high-performance environments.

In this senior role, you lead the full mechanical/HVAC design lifecycle, from concept through construction, for complex building projects across commercial, institutional, mission critical, life sciences, and residential sectors.

You’re the point person: for the client, for the architect, for the contractor, and for the internal MEP/FP team.

You’ll guide the work, set the standard, and protect both performance and budget under real-world constraints.

What You'll Work On

You’ll be at the center of multi-discipline building system projects, with a focus on:

• Mechanical and HVAC systems for commercial and institutional buildings
• Mission critical and high-performance building environments
• Life sciences, lab, healthcare, and specialized facilities
• Residential and mixed-use mechanical system design
• Integrated MEP/FP coordination with electrical, plumbing, and fire protection
• Energy-conscious, code-compliant systems (ASHRAE, NFPA, IMC, IECC)
• Complex system sizing, equipment selection, and code analysis
• Full project lifecycle from schematic through construction administration

You’ll work with tools and platforms like AutoCAD, Revit, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, and other HVAC modeling tools.

Your challenge: deliver trusted performance for demanding clients, under tight budgets and aggressive schedules.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading mechanical/HVAC design for multi-sector building projects
• Performing and reviewing complex engineering calculations and system sizing
• Developing mechanical plans, specifications, and technical reports
• Ensuring designs comply with ASHRAE, NFPA, IMC, IECC and other applicable codes
• Reviewing shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs during construction
• Serving as primary client contact for assigned projects
• Managing project scope, schedule, budget, and staffing from kickoff to closeout
• Leading coordination with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology teams
• Overseeing junior engineers and providing mentorship and technical guidance
• Managing proposal development, project planning, and workload forecasting
• Conducting QA/QC reviews for technical accuracy and consistency
• Driving project efficiency and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (MSME a plus)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Minimum of 8 years Lead Mechanical Engineering experience in an MEP consulting environment
• Experience with lab, healthcare, mission critical, or other high-performance buildings
• Demonstrated experience managing projects of varying size and complexity
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, and HVAC modeling tools
• Strong understanding of building systems, codes, and multidisciplinary coordination
• Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills
