Physical Therapist

Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist manages a hospital-based inpatient and outpatient physical therapy clinic, providing skilled physical therapy evaluations and treatment plans. The role supports medical staff, participates in interdisciplinary teams, promotes professional development, and ensures financial viability of the department. The Physical Therapist coordinates specialty orthopedic clinics, collaborates on administrative processes, and adheres to all regulatory guidelines. This position requires a commitment to patient-centered care and effective communication across diverse populations. Responsibilities:

• Manage inpatient and outpatient physical therapy clinic operations.
• Provide skilled physical therapy evaluations and establish treatment plans.
• Support medical staff and participate in interdisciplinary team functions.
• Promote a team atmosphere and foster professional development of staff.
• Optimize department revenue streams and manage expenses to ensure financial viability.
• Balance reporting, audits, and tracking measures with clinical demands.
• Coordinate orthopedic specialty field clinics including referral screening and prioritization.
• Collaborate with corporate teams to develop and improve administrative processes.
• Ensure compliance with corporate, state, and federal regulatory guidelines for physical therapy practice.
• Support the organization's mission and corporate pillars of excellence.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
• Active, full-time patient care experience of at least four years.
• Current Physical Therapist license in good standing in Alaska.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong communication skills, including ability to work effectively with diverse cultures and interdisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in computer skills including MS Excel, PowerPoint, and professional correspondence writing.
• Ability to perform mathematical computations relevant to clinical and administrative tasks.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Previous managerial experience in a healthcare or physical therapy setting.
• Experience coordinating specialty clinics or field-based therapy services.
• Ability to travel to village locations using small aircraft for patient care delivery.

Special Considerations:

• Work environment includes hospital-based physical therapy departments with therapeutic equipment and village-based settings requiring portable therapy tools.
• Travel by small, non-pressurized planes to remote locations may be required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with patients and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds.
