Senior Customs Brokerage Specialist

Overview To provide customers with the highest quality service by delivering consistent customer service and resolution to ensure the timely release and/or inbound or outbound movement of freight and cargo. Responsibilities Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers’ front‑line personnel across operating divisions and subsidiaries to provide high‑level customer service. Prepare, analyze, and submit documentation to U.S. Customs, agents, and clients, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to customs and transportation. Anticipate, identify, and resolve issues that could delay the timely release or movement of freight. Maintain relationships with correspondent brokers, T&B, and other service providers to ensure service exceeds customer requirements. Resolve banking and letter of credit problems and advise customers on payment terms. Resolve billing issues, ensure accurate invoicing and vendor payments, and manage accounting adjustments and delinquent account payments. For transportation customer service representatives: develop rates or provide quotes for freight movement; research and negotiate carrier rates; coordinate post‑entry activity on the customer’s behalf. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; 1½ to 2 years of brokerage, transportation, or customer service experience preferred. Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access). Experience with office equipment such as phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner. Strong customer‑service, organizational, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills. Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and related federal regulations, including specific areas such as air, ocean, and surface freight, and familiarity with HTS classification and the harmonized tariff system. Basic math skills for metric and currency conversions. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as part of a team; handle high‑volume and time‑sensitive work. Preferred Qualifications Experience transmitting entries to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
