Position Overview

This position is dedicated to delivering both professional and non-professional nursing care services as per physician directives. The role encompasses various Clinical Nurse responsibilities, including:

• Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for a specific group of patients.
• Providing nursing care and executing clinical support tasks within the defined scope of practice to fulfill the patient’s care plan.
• Offering professional nursing services to patients, requiring a valid nursing license.
• Functioning as an individual contributor while potentially guiding the work of less experienced professionals or managing specific processes and programs.

This experienced role demands independent work with general supervision, tackling challenging yet manageable problems, and influencing others through clear communication of facts, policies, and practices.

Job Responsibilities

• Assess and identify expected patient outcomes based on diagnoses, data, and patient concerns.

• Develop and implement personalized care plans that consider the patient and family’s readiness and learning barriers.
• Utilize evidence-based interventions tailored to specific diagnoses or issues.
• Document all aspects of care in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards, including treatments performed and patient responses.
• Administer procedures and treatments using nursing expertise, adhering to established guidelines and professional standards.
• Safely administer medications and assess patient responses, applying knowledge of pharmacology and care standards.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care strategies based on patient responses and expected outcomes.
• Coordinate comprehensive discharge plans, utilizing appropriate resources for a smooth transition for patients and families.
• Create educational plans for patients and families, documenting according to departmental standards.
• Engage in patient safety, quality improvement, and process enhancement activities to support better patient outcomes.
• Provide leadership at the bedside as a delegator, collaborator, facilitator, and communicator.
• Maintain positive working relationships with peers to foster a professional environment.
• Collaborate with nursing colleagues and other disciplines to implement care plans effectively.
• Delegate tasks appropriately, considering the roles and capabilities of team members.
• Interact courteously and respectfully with all customers, acknowledging cultural differences.
• Participate in ongoing learning activities to enhance professional competence and support career goals.
• Incorporate new knowledge and strategies to improve nursing practices.
• May take on charge nurse responsibilities in collaboration with unit leadership.
• Mentor and precept newly hired staff and nursing students.
• Pursue advanced certification and educational opportunities.
• Explore technology and resources to integrate evidence-based practices into daily activities.
• Support unit and organizational growth through a shared governance model.
• Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, taking responsibility for reviewing minutes if absent.
• Adhere to the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association standards of practice.

Physical Requirements

• Occasional lifting of 30-35 lbs and assisting with patient mobility.
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
• Exposure to infectious diseases and potential carcinogenic substances.
• Exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
• Fine manual dexterity required for patient handling.
• Visual and auditory acuity necessary for monitoring patient care.
