Job Title Clinical Research Coordinator-Clinical Trials Management Office Department Medicine | Clinical Trials Management Office Job Summary Clinical Research Coordinator to coordinate and perform daily clinical research activities in accordance with approved protocols administered by the non-cancer College of Medicine (COM) Center for Clinical Research Management (CCRM) for the Gastro/Hepatology/Nutrition Division in the Department of Internal Medicine working on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) clinical research studies. The role includes assessing patient records to identify eligible patients, recruiting, interviewing, enrolling patients, obtaining informed consent in compliance with regulatory and sponsor requirements, educating patients and families, coordinating scheduling and follow‑through of patient care appointments, procedures, and diagnostic testing, participating in the collection, processing and evaluation of biological samples, administering and evaluating standardized scoring of diagnostic, psychological or behavioral testing or questionnaires, monitoring patients for adverse reactions, documenting unfavorable responses, evaluating patient compliance, assisting with data collection, coding, and analysis, generating reports, ensuring compliance with institutional and federal regulations, and contributing to new protocol development and study goals. Responsibilities Assess patient records to identify eligible participants for specified clinical research protocols. Recruit, interview, and enroll patients while obtaining informed consent. Educate patients and families about the purpose, goals, and processes of the clinical study. Coordinate scheduling and follow‑through of patient care appointments, procedures, and diagnostic testing according to the study protocol. Participate in the collection, processing, and evaluation of biological samples. Administer, evaluate, and calculate standardized scoring of diagnostic, psychological or behavioral testing or questionnaires. Monitor patients for adverse reactions to study treatment, procedures, or medication, and notify appropriate clinical professionals when necessary. Document unfavorable responses and notify research sponsors and applicable regulatory agencies. Evaluate patient compliance with protocol requirements. Assist with collecting, extracting, coding, and analyzing clinical research data. Generate reports and review them to ensure data validity. Support compliance with all Institutional Review Boards (IRB), FDA, federal, state and industry sponsor regulations. Assist with coordinating and preparing for external quality assurance and control reviews by IRB, federal or industry sponsors. Participate in activities to develop new research protocols and contribute to establishing study goals to meet protocol requirements. Minimum Education Required Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences, health sciences, social sciences or other medical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum Experience Required One year experience in a clinical research capacity. Preferred Skills And Experience Experience or knowledge in inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s. Knowledge of medical terminology. Clinical research certification from an accredited certifying agency. Computer skills required, with experience using Microsoft Software applications desired. Other Requirements Successful completion of a background check. Pre‑employment physical and drug screen may be required. Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation; travel to locations in the Columbus Metropolitan Area may be required.
