Program Manager - INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY

Position Summary: The Program Manager oversees and coordinates activities and programming for Healthcare and Assisted Living, including meaningful small-group programs designed to promote resident engagement, socialization, cognitive stimulation, independence, and overall quality of life for Independent Living residents living with cognitive impairment. The Program Manager works closely with residents and their families to understand individual interests, abilities, preferences, and needs. The position participates in care plan meetings and collaborates with the Social Work team, Nursing, Therapy, Dining, and other departments to provide person-centered support and meaningful opportunities for residents. Essential Job Functions

• Supports the Mission, Vision and Values of LifeSpire of Virginia.
• Works with Resident Council for resident feedback and input.
• Implements and/or oversees activities and programming for Healthcare and Assisted Living.
• Develops and leads meaningful Small-Group programming based on residents’ interests and abilities.
• Works closely with residents and their families to identify preferences and opportunities for meaningful engagement.
• Participates in care plan meetings and provides activity-related information and updates.
• Ensures interdepartmental coordination of all activities and events.
• Maintains oversight of room reservation calendar for all activities spaces.

· Recruits, trains, supervises, and supports activity assistants.

• Completes performance evaluations and corrective actions as needed for activity assistants.
• Manages PTO requests, schedules, and budgeted hours for AL and HC Activity Assistants.
• Ensures adequate activity coverage and programming throughout the week for AL, HC, Small Group.
• Coordinates special events and resident-centered programs.
• Communicates with residents/families regularly via email, newsletter, phone and in-person regarding activity participation.
• Monitors participation and adjusts programming as residents’ needs change.
• Attends meetings as required to meet regulatory and organizational compliance.
• Participates in leadership meetings and trainings.
• Maintains accurate activity documentation and supports person-centered care planning.
• Consults with Cornerstone Leader regarding activities and programming as needed.
• Attends/participates in Program planning with Resident Services and all levels of care.
• Reconciles credit card account monthly and manages the purchases of programming supplies and equipment.
• Drives or arranges for driver of passenger bus as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned in a prompt and cooperative manner.
• Follows all HR policies and procedures outlined in Team Member handbook.
• Maintains thorough job knowledge and understanding of: Job Description, Residents Rights, Fire and Disaster Plan, Problem Solving procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:

The Programming Manager should have at least 1 year of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Be at least eighteen (18) years of age with a High School diploma or GED.
• Hold Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 6 months of hire.
• Must be able to complete and pass a DOT physical exam annually and meet the terms of the Community Driving Policy.
• Ability to operate 18 passenger (resident)bus when necessary, during trips/outings.
• Organizational and social skills.
• Ability to establish good rapport with senior adults.
• Ability to work independently.
• Previous computer experience and skills.
• Previous experience in senior living activities.
• Ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, and staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field preferred.
• Proficiency in desktop publishing or similar type program for design, development, and preparation of facility newsletter.

WORKING HOURS AND ENVIRONMENT

Some evening, weekend, and holiday hours required as activity schedule dictates. Work in inside and outside environments. Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to dust, fumes, odors, water, etc. as well as some noises. Must be able to tolerate exposure to weather, fluctuations in temperature (hot/cold), wet, and/or humid conditions
