Job Title: Welder Business Area: Environment & Energy (EE) Division/Function: Clean Air Technologies (ECA) Shift: Monday - Friday, 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM Brief Description A Welder will weld metal components and equipment according to blueprint specifications and fitter layout using oxy/acetylene and plasma cutting processes. The Welder will prepare parts, drill holes, deburr parts, and use the plate shear and Ironworker. This role will also adjust amperage, current, and gas flow according to the material being welded. Key Responsibilities Apply an intermediate-level understanding of GMAW, SMAW, and FCAW welding processes. Weld all metal components and equipment in position. Set up components and equipment to be welded. Maintain a high level of weld quality by following QC standards and policies. Adjust amperage, current, and gas flow according to the material being welded. Demonstrate safe working practices and standards. Policy Interpretation Applies established company policies, safety requirements, quality standards, work instructions, and shop procedures in daily work. Refers questions, exceptions, or unclear policy interpretations to a supervisor, Human Resources, Quality, or Safety, as appropriate. Has no independent financial authority. May use materials, consumables, tools, and equipment required to complete assigned work within established procedures and must report material shortages, waste, damage, or equipment issues to a supervisor. People and Resource Management Has no direct people management authority. May provide task-related guidance, share job knowledge, support coworkers, and coordinate with team members to complete assigned work safely and efficiently. Escalates staffing, performance, or resource concerns to a supervisor. May identify and suggest improvements related to safety, quality, workflow, tooling, equipment use, or work processes. Experience Minimum of three years of welding experience, including MIG, flux-core, stick, pulse arc, stitch pattern, and tack welding. Experience welding carbon steel and stainless steel in both in-position and out-of-position applications. Experience reading and interpreting prints. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Good mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, and basic geometry, with a willingness to continue learning and improving. Good knowledge and accurate use of common tools, including tape measures. Knowledge of steel manufacturing processes. Knowledge of PPE requirements and safe work practices. Good communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and interact professionally with all levels of personnel. Demonstrates behaviors that support a safe working environment. Other Valued Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Certification of completion of welding classes or trade schooling preferred. Physical Requirements Mobility Required to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, crouch, walk, climb, balance, and work at heights using ladders or manlifts. Manual Dexterity Required to use hands and arms to reach for objects and must have the ability to use close vision, peripheral vision, and adjust focus. Lifting and Carrying Must occasionally lift, carry, and/or move up to 50 pounds. The majority of work is performed in a warehouse and manufacturing shop environment. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, forklifts, electricity, and moderate noise levels.
