Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring MD or compact RN license and at least 1 year of CVICU experience.

Details

• Works in an 8-bed Cardiovascular ICU with an average daily census of 6
• Cares for adult and geriatric patients
• Maintains a 1:2 patient ratio in CVICU/CCRU, or 1:3 if floated to IMC
• Manages patients with cardiac surgery diagnoses including CABG, valve repairs, and combined CABG/valve procedures
• Treats cardiac conditions such as STEMI, NSTEMI, AFib with RVR, and cardiogenic shock
• Cares for vascular surgery patients including peripheral bypasses and EVAR procedures
• Treats thoracic surgery patients including VATS procedures
• Provides immediate post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients with 1:1 staffing for the first 12 hours
• Manages ventilators in coordination with respiratory therapy
• Utilizes Flo Trac, CRRT, IABP, and Impella equipment
• Performs groin and radial artery management including fem stop and TR bands
• Works 3x12-hour day shifts from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM
• Requires every other weekend coverage
• Requires floating within specialty units, including IMC and other lower acuity areas
• No scheduled on-call shifts required

Requirements

• Active RN license (Maryland or Compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience required
• First-time travelers considered with 2+ years of extensive CVICU/open heart experience

Additional Information

• Provides critical care nursing for cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery patients
• Collaborates with respiratory therapy for ventilator management
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
