Title: Safety OSHA Certified Adjunct Agency: Brightpoint Community College Location: Chesterfield - 041 FLSA: Exempt Hiring Range: $793-$1,693 per credit hour. Full Time or Part Time: Part Time Additional Detail Job Description: Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is one of the largest of Virginia's 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. Brightpoint Community College's mission is to provide quality educational opportunities that inspire student success and community vitality. It envisions a success story for every student.
General Information: Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester. These limits are for total number of credit hours taught in the Virginia's Community Colleges (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply depending upon other positions occupied within VCCS. Responsibilities: The Division of Engineering, Business, and Public Services at Brightpoint Community College augments full-time teaching faculty with qualified part-time instructors to enhance the student learning process. Teach all aspects of occupational health and safety and its application in the workplace. Teach safety standards and the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), its rules and regulations (OSHA 10). This course will have two sections meeting on Thursday mornings during the fall semester. Minimum Qualifications: Five years of general industry safety experience. A college degree in occupational safety and health, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation may be substituted for two years of experience. Candidates with OSHA Trainer certification. (OSHA 500) will also be considered. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required.
