Field Service Technician

Field Service Technician (Open) – R10090791 Location: Piscataway, NJ (Retail shop) Responsibilities Install and service on‑site nitrogen generation plants and bulk medical or industrial gas systems safely and in compliance with all applicable codes. Support installation and maintenance of nitrogen on‑site generation equipment. Assist with cryogenic bulk installations at Airgas facilities and customer sites. Restore and optimize pressure reduction equipment for bulk delivery systems. Evaluate and provide solutions for electrical systems associated with N2 generation and cryogenic installations. Install decals and warning signs to identify hazards, warnings, ownership, operational settings, and emergency contacts. Install piping systems in accordance with company SOPs. Perform site surveys to ensure compliance with federal, state/provincial and local codes. Provide fencing to protect installations from tampering or unauthorized entry. Execute periodic preventative maintenance tasks on N2 generation equipment per schedule. Conduct annual inspections of all bulk installation sites. Champion and uphold safety policies and procedures. Maintain an appropriate stock of recommended parts for typical installations. Collaborate on additional projects as needed. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license. Minimum two years of industrial field service experience, preferably in gas generation systems. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google applications. Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines. Clear and effective speaking manner for communicating with customers and employees. Ability to set goals and manage time to ensure timely completion of tasks. Independent judgment and initiative for problem resolution and recommendation. Self‑motivation, enthusiasm, positive attitude, and teamwork. Ability to use computer, telephone, and operate a motor vehicle. Capability to move materials weighing 25‑75 pounds, including frequent bending, twisting, and reaching. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and truck beds. Work outdoors in a wide range of temperatures. Exposure to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. Reliable transportation; service truck provided after training. Must obtain a Certified Brazing Certificate within 30 days of employment. Ability to respond to emergencies during operating hours. Read and interpret safety rules, material safety data sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Perform mathematical calculations. Preferred Qualifications Understanding of NFPA 99 and NFPA 55 requirements. Knowledge of cryogenic and high‑pressure gas hazards and related products. Hands‑on experience with cryogenic equipment, pressure piping, compressors, and pumps. Working knowledge of welding and brazing processes, especially silver brazing. Experience with regulator repair and piping/liquid leak repair. Benefits $30‑33/hr pay range.
