Job Title: FBC/L&D RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: STABLE Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 1700-0500 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: State Nursing License or Compact State License Certifications: NRP, AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring, S.T.A.B.L.E., BLS Must-Have: - Patient Assessment - Obstetric Triage Acuity Tools - Labor Assessment - Fetal Evaluation - Medication Administration

Description: Floating between departments and local locations within 20 miles is required. Assess all triage patients beginning at 20 weeks of gestation. Utilize obstetric triage acuity tools. Perform labor assessment and evaluation. Conduct fetal evaluation and assessment. Evaluate for labor at term and assess for preterm labor signs, symptoms of preeclampsia, rupture of membranes, decreased fetal movement, preterm premature rupture of membranes, vaginal bleeding, and acute or critical conditions such as motor vehicle accident or large abruptio placentae. If an emergency medical condition is identified, stabilize the patient for delivery or prepare for transfer to a higher level of care if necessary. Provide labor assessment, evaluation, and care during the intrapartum period. Administer medications including but not limited to Pitocin, misoprostol, methergine, hemabate, magnesium sulfate, terbutaline, labetalol, nifedipine, hydralazine, and insulin. Stabilize newborns immediately after delivery. Administer necessary newborn medications. Prepare for both scheduled and emergency cesarean deliveries. Assess and care for postpartum patients following vaginal and cesarean deliveries. Care for newborns, including hearing screenings, assisting with laboratory draws, initiating and overseeing IVs, and providing medication administration such as hepatitis B, vitamin K, erythromycin, and antibiotics. Assist with circumcisions and care for newborns experiencing opiate withdrawal. Stabilize critically ill newborns for transport and provide phototherapy and hypoglycemia care as necessary.
