Position Overview

NuWest is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a 17-week travel contract at an outpatient surgery center in Florida. You will provide safe, high-quality perioperative care in a fast-paced ambulatory surgical setting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and works well as part of a surgical team. They are committed to patient safety at every step.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care as a circulating nurse, and as a scrub nurse when needed, in line with surgical protocols
• Assess patients before surgery, verify consents, and confirm the surgical site and procedure through safety checklists and time-outs
• Prepare the operating room by setting up instruments, equipment, and supplies for each procedure
• Maintain the sterile field and enforce aseptic technique and infection control standards
• Monitor patients' status during procedures and respond quickly to changes or emergencies
• Count and track sponges, instruments, and sharps, and handle specimens correctly
• Document nursing care, medications, and procedure details accurately in the electronic health record
• Communicate with the surgical team and hand off patient care to recovery staff

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for the duration of the assignment
• Operating Room nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Must not reside in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, or Monroe counties
• Must pass background check and drug screening
