Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)

Role and Responsibilities The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides direct occupational therapy care under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. They implement treatment plans, document patient progress, and utilize therapy software accurately. The COTA collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote functional progress and improve quality of life in a skilled nursing facility setting. They ensure patient safety, adhere to all regulations, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Additional duties include participating in community health initiatives, assisting with patient evacuations, and demonstrating dependable attendance. Qualifications and Skills Candidates must be NBCOT certified, with current licensure in the applicable state. New graduates are encouraged to apply; one year of experience is preferred but not required. CPR certification is necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email is expected. The role requires good body mechanics, independent decision-making, excellent communication, and the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team. Key Duties Follow occupational treatment plans, chart promptly, and utilize therapy software. Provide excellent customer service, demonstrate professionalism, and adhere to company policies and safety standards. Assist in patient evacuations, maintain good attendance, and communicate effectively within the team.
