Investigator - Application Science

About the Role The Investigator, Application Science will support both TandemAI's customer-facing scientific activities and internal drug discovery programs. This role is responsible for helping external partners and internal research teams leverage TandemAI's AI and physics-powered drug discovery platform to solve complex scientific challenges and accelerate therapeutic development. The ideal candidate combines a strong scientific foundation in computational drug discovery with excellent communication skills and a passion for applying innovative technologies to real-world drug discovery problems. This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, computational chemistry, molecular modeling, and drug discovery. Key Responsibilities Serve as a scientific resource for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and internal scientists utilizing TandemAI's technology platform. Support the application of TandemAI's computational and experimental capabilities across both external collaborations and internal research programs, and identify opportunities to maximize platform impact. Develop scientific best practices, workflows, and educational materials that drive successful outcomes for customers and internal teams. Contribute to scientific presentations, technical reports, publications, workshops, webinars, and customer-facing materials. Support business development activities through scientific presentations, technical evaluations, proposal development, and customer discussions. Support customer onboarding, training, and adoption of TandemAI technologies and workflows. Stay current on emerging scientific trends, competitive developments, and advances in AI, machine learning, computational chemistry, and drug discovery. Contribute customer and scientific insights that help guide future platform capabilities and product development. Qualifications PhD in Computational Chemistry, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Structural Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related scientific discipline. 1-2 years of postdoctoral and/or industry experience preferred. Experience with modern drug discovery workflows. Experience in one or more of the following areas: molecular dynamics simulations, free energy calculations, structure-based drug design, ligand-based drug design, chemoinformatics, AI/ML applications in drug discovery, computational biology, and large language models for scientific applications. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate scientific concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills. Experience with Python and scientific programming tools. Customer-facing experience is a plus. Willingness to travel as needed.
