Water/Wastewater Design Engineer

We are seeking a Water/Wastewater Design Engineer to support the planning, design and delivery of infrastructure projects across water supply, wastewater collection, treatment and related utility systems. The successful candidate will contribute to projects from feasibility and concept development through detailed design, construction support and commissioning, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors and regulatory stakeholders. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging schemes that improve the resilience, efficiency and sustainability of essential water infrastructure. Responsibilities will include preparing calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings and schedules; developing hydraulic models and carrying out network, process and system assessments; and producing designs for pipelines, pumping stations, treatment facilities, storage assets and associated civil, mechanical or electrical interfaces. You will review technical information, identify risks and design constraints, support cost estimates and programmes, and ensure that all deliverables meet applicable standards, health and safety requirements and environmental regulations. The role may also involve site visits, construction-phase technical support, responding to requests for information, reviewing contractor submissions and assisting with testing, commissioning and handover activities. Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, water engineering or a related discipline, with relevant experience in water or wastewater design. Experience with hydraulic modelling, design software, technical specifications and industry standards is desirable, as is familiarity with treatment processes, asset management and regulatory requirements. You will need strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills, sound commercial awareness and the ability to manage priorities while delivering accurate work to deadlines. A collaborative approach, attention to detail and a commitment to sustainable engineering are essential. Professional registration or progress toward chartership, together with experience mentoring junior engineers, would be advantageous. #J-18808-Ljbffr
