Join us and help run what runs the world.This position reports to:Engineering Manager__The work model for the role is: Onsite, Richmond, VAYour role and responsibilitiesIn this role, you will have the opportunity to create and modify the standard designs of equipment, systems, or installations, including standard specifications for manufacturing, fabrication, or construction, using standard design concepts. Each day, you will design engineering solutions, including drawings and calculations according to contract specifications. You will also showcase your expertise by contributing to design reviews and design verification and modifying the design, as necessary.You will be mainly accountable for:Review and Implement engineering changes across products and coordinating the deliverables between cross functional teams; Contribute to design/manufacturing reviews and verification, providing feedback on modifications as neededEnsure the manufacturing line has the support required to meet market demand by monitoring, creating/verifying work instructions, and taking a proactive approach to remove barriers that would impede achieving this goalLead, correct, and monitor all data related to power protection products using the manufacturing unit’s PLM/ERP systems such a Material Master, manufacturing Bill of Materials (mBOM), Routings and Costing; Establish contacts with suppliers for technical support to improve material quality and/or to decrease costsWork with others cross-functionally to deliver designs in a timely manner with high-quality deliverables that meet customer expectations and project requirements; Work directly with cross functional team to implement, localize, and outsource products and manufacturing opportunitiesQualifications for the roleBachelor degree in electrical/mechanical engineering, preferredMinimum 2 years experience in lean manufacturing, operations or engineeringKnowledge of electromechanical design, detail part drawings, assembly drawings and schematics, and design for manufacturing in all the aboveExperience interpreting and applying electrical safety standards (UL/IEC, etc.), a plusProficient in Microsoft Office Programs, SAP, (PTC Windchill, a plus)Proficient in Excel Data analysis and Reports; Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)Experience in CAD/SolidWorks, a plusStrong multitasking and organizational skills; must be goals oriented, analytic, and methodicalCandidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.More about usABB Smart Power provides energy distribution solutions for data centers, industrial and manufacturing plants, critical infrastructure and commercial buildings.
