Job Description Summary:The DC CFAR is part of a national network of 20 CFARs supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The DC CFAR mission is to advance our multi-institutional research effort to contribute to ending the HIV epidemic and improving the health and quality of life of persons with HIV in Washington, DC, and beyond in partnership with community and government. The DC CFAR’s unique citywide model unites the complementary scientific efforts of nine partner institutions in Washington, DC – The George Washington University, Georgetown University, Howard University, American University, Children’s National Hospital, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the DC Department of Health, Whitman-Walker and Us Helping Us.The Center Associate, DC CFAR, manages and coordinates activities across the Administrative Core A (10%), Developmental Core B (30%), Advanced Technology Core C (20%), Clinical and Population Sciences Core D (20%), and Social and Behavioral Sciences Core E (20%) of the District of Columbia Center for AIDS Research (DC CFAR).The Center Associate serves as the centralized Core Manager and primary operational liaison among the Developmental, Advanced Technology, Clinical and Population Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Administrative Cores. In this capacity, the Center Associate leads the day-to-day coordination of activities across multiple Cores, works directly with Core leadership to advance Core priorities, monitors activities and deliverables, and facilitates communication and collaboration across the DC CFAR’s multi-institutional network.Specific duties include:Manage the day-to-day operations and coordination of the Cores, including budget tracking for events and surveying Core users.Lead the scheduling, planning, and evaluating meetings, research activities, and events for all Cores.Coordinate key components of the Developmental Core’s pilot awards program and service request processes in collaboration with the Senior Research Project Manager, including tracking submissions, deadlines, review activities, communications, and required follow-up.Partner with Core leadership to identify investigator needs and facilitate access to appropriate DC CFAR scientific resources, services, expertise, and collaborative opportunities.Develop and maintain systems for tracking Core activities, service utilization, investigator engagement, deliverables, and outcomes across multiple Cores to support program management and evaluation.Lead the administrative coordination of the Women and HIV Scientific Interest Group, including planning activities, coordinating meetings and communications, tracking priorities and action items, and facilitating engagement among participating members.Coordinate and manage activities related to the Developmental Core’s No Investigator Left Behind and Developmental Funding Opportunities programs, including tracking participation, facilitating communications and follow-up, and monitoring program activities and outcomes.Lead the collection, organization, quality review, and synthesis of information required for the DC CFAR annual NIH progress report and other programmatic reports related to assigned Cores.Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.Minimum Qualifications:Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline.
