POSITION TITLE:(TP2) Bus Driver

DEPARTMENT: Transportation

WORK DAYS: 180

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation

SALARY SCHEDULE: B

REQUIREMENTS:

Must be 18 years of age

Valid license (CDL) to drive a school bus preferred; will train otherwise

Pass required physical examination and drug test

Clear criminal background and driving record check

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Obeys ALL traffic laws

Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses

Makes sure teachers/chaperones and students are aware of bus rules

Keeps assigned bus clean

Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects

Checks bus after each operation to ensure all students have exited

Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness

Report all accidents and complete required reports

Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on bus

Participates in all required professional training and follows all procedures as trained annually

Complies with all Rome Board of Education policies and administrative procedures
