Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Newburgh, Indiana, near Evansville
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Three weekends within each six-week schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Unit: 32-bed Neuro ICU with approximately 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratios
• Floating: May float within the nurse’s skill set to nearby affiliated campuses with advance notice when needed
• Orientation: Biweekly orientation; orientation-week hours may vary

Travel RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; compact license required
• Associate degree in nursing or equivalent nursing education
• At least 2 years of RN experience, including 1 full year of ICU or critical care experience
• At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment
• Trauma Level II experience
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS and ACLS certifications
• Current NIHSS certification or competency
• Recent Epic charting experience; completion of a charting checkoff may be required
• Strong neurological assessment skills, including NIHSS and dysphagia screening
• Ability to interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs and successfully complete applicable rhythm assessments
• Experience managing ventilated patients and titrating sedative, paralytic, cardiac, and vasoactive infusions
• Strong critical thinking, adaptability, resilience, and communication skills
• Travelers residing within 40 miles of the assignment location may not be eligible

Neuro ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to general ICU, post-stroke, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, post-code, and respiratory distress patients
• Care for patients requiring neurological drains, biopsies, and ventriculostomy monitoring
• Perform focused and comprehensive neurological assessments and recognize changes in patient condition
• Manage endotracheal tubes, mechanical ventilation, telemetry, and 12-lead EKG monitoring
• Initiate and titrate sedatives, paralytics, cardiac medications, and vasoactive infusions according to protocols
• Implement sepsis protocols and deliver timely, evidence-based critical care
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic
• Float to other nearby affiliated campuses within the nurse’s competency when operationally required
• Support a positive learning environment, including possible precepting of students or newly hired staff
