Role Overview

The Treatment Nurse delivers direct nursing care to residents, including medication management and skin/wound treatments, while supervising daily nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. All duties are carried out in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, facility policies, and directives from the Station Manager or RN Nurse Supervisor to ensure the highest quality of care at all times.

• Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician.
• Verify the identity of the resident prior to administering any medication or treatment.
• Ensure that medications prescribed for one resident are not given to another.
• Maintain an adequate supply of floor stock medications, supplies, and equipment to meet the nursing needs of residents. Report any shortages to the Station Manager / RN Nurse Supervisor.
• Order prescribed medications, supplies, and equipment as necessary, following established policies.
• Ensure that narcotic records are accurate for your shift.
• Notify the Station Manager or RN Nurse Supervisor of any drug or narcotic discrepancies observed during your shift.
• Review Medication Administration Records (MARs) for completeness, accuracy in transcribing physician's orders, and compliance with stop order policies.
• Notify the attending physician of automatic stop orders before the last dose is administered.
• Dispose of drugs and narcotics as required, following established procedures.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Current, unencumbered RN or LPN license in Tennessee
• 1 year in a skilled nursing facility (preferred, not required)
• Clinical judgment, medication administration, wound care, supervision, EMR charting, infection control, and ability to lift/move 50 lbs
