Job Opportunity

The Surgical Technologist will function primarily as a scrub person, working under the supervision of the surgeon and registered nurse to ensure a safe operating room environment. Responsibilities include ensuring that equipment is functional and that operative procedures are conducted in a manner that maximizes patient safety. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of surgical techniques, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and the implementation of tools and technologies relevant to invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Shift Details

This position entails 10-12 hour shifts, subject to the needs of the facility. The Surgical Technologist may be required to float to Labor & Delivery if necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or a military surgical technologist program
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) designation

Essential Job Functions

• Ensure completion of case carts according to preference cards.
• Recognize and interpret preference cards for the procurement of instruments and supplies.
• Communicate effectively with operating room staff and sterile processing team to coordinate instrumentation for scheduled and unscheduled cases.
• Review daily schedule with the charge nurse and sterile processing coordinator to identify potential turnover delays and scheduling issues.
• Take responsibility for managing communication responsibilities related to the position, delegating duties appropriately, and coordinating breaks and lunches.
• Act as a resource for the Surgical Services and Sterile Processing Departments in procuring necessary items and instrumentation for surgical procedures.
• Coordinate with materials management regarding supply utilization and deployment.

Additional Information

The facility reserves the right to cancel a maximum of three shifts within a 13-week contract period due to low census or other unforeseen circumstances. Additionally, candidates must reside at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered for this position.
