Remote Household Data Specialist for Video Capture (Japan)

This role focuses on training the next generation of personal robotics by capturing high-quality video demonstrations of everyday household tasks. Utilizing a UMI gripper, a wearable device that mimics a robot''s hand, you will perform tasks naturally, creating valuable training data to teach robots how to operate in real homes. Key Responsibilities

• Capture and submit high-quality, specification-compliant video demonstrations of everyday household tasks using the UMI gripper wearable device.
• Follow detailed, task-specific instructions to ensure all recordings meet rigorous project standards.
• Review feedback from assigned reviewers and iteratively refine your approach to improve data quality.
• Operate and set up recording equipment and the UMI gripper to accurately mimic real-world hand movements while performing tasks.
• Communicate proactively and clearly with the customer’s project team, both in writing and verbally.
• Maintain a consistent weekly workflow to meet the minimum approved data requirements.

• Keen attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow complex specifications precisely.
• Manual dexterity and experience with physical task precision in varied household environments.
• Comfort with operating, wearing, and setting up specialized devices and recording equipment.
• Capacity to incorporate feedback and make iterative improvements to processes and outputs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including openness to prompt feedback exchanges.
• Reliable access to a fully equipped household environment (kitchen, living spaces, and common items).
• Ability to upload large video files via stable, high-speed internet from your home environment.
• Comfort with prolonged use of a VR headset as part of the regular work environment.

• Genuine curiosity about personal robotics, AI, and emerging technology in home environments.
• Prior experience participating in data collection, usability studies, or similar hands-on projects.
• Patience for repetitive, precision-oriented work and willingness to adapt as project needs evolve.

This is a contract position with remote work based in Japan.

Compensation ranges from $15 to $30 per hour, based on the quality of approved data that meets project specifications. This is a Pay-Per-Task (PPT) project, with an initial rate during the pilot phase and potential for improved rates after calibration.

We are looking for candidates who can start quickly, ideally within 48 hours of selection. Candidates should be prepared to begin their first task as soon as they move forward with their application.
