Medical Technologist

A full-time Medical Technologist opportunity is available in Largo, Florida, supporting a hospital laboratory that serves the West Florida region. This night shift position offers the opportunity to work across Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology while playing a key role in delivering timely and accurate laboratory results that support exceptional patient care.

The Medical Technologist works under the direction of laboratory leadership to perform both routine and stat clinical testing across multiple laboratory disciplines. This role requires strong analytical skills and independent decision-making to ensure accurate test results while maintaining compliance with quality and regulatory standards. Daily responsibilities include performing quality control procedures, reviewing patient results, resolving discrepancies, managing critical specimens, and ensuring all documentation is completed accurately. The technologist also assists with regulatory compliance activities, including CAP requirements, and assumes additional departmental responsibilities when leadership is unavailable.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and stat laboratory testing in Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology.
• Execute quality control procedures and troubleshoot out-of-range results.
• Interpret patient results and perform delta checks to identify discrepancies.
• Review pending and completed laboratory reports to ensure timely turnaround.
• Process and communicate critical laboratory results according to established protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient testing and laboratory activities.
• Support CAP and other regulatory compliance initiatives.
• Assist with laboratory workflow and departmental operations in the absence of supervisory staff.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree required.
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology preferred.
• Current Florida State Medical Technologist license required or ability to obtain licensure during the interview process.
• Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Technologist required.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, quality assurance, and regulatory standards.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Schedule:

• Full-time
• Night shift
• 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
• Rotating weekends
