Our award-winning seating solutions are developed from consumer research, finding the ease of operation to be comfortable, convenient and connected.Job Responsibilities:We are looking for two Product Engineers in different departments:Structural Products Engineer - Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of automotive seating structure assemblies. The components are primarily stampings, tubes, and wires and will include process considerations for welding, rivets, threaded fasteners, pivoting joints, etc. and the integration of mechanisms such as latches, tracks and recliners. Seat Complete Engineer - Responsible for the design, development, integration and implementation of automotive seating systems. This includes ensuring overall system level performance is met by managing the individual component requirements as well as the system level interactions. Component responsibilities may include plastics, foam pads, spring assemblies, etc. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesGenerally assigned to components, sub-assemblies, or systems that are less complex in nature, e.g. carry over parts, existing business, and/or minor modifications. Where assigned to systems, responsibility is usually for component(s) within the system.Coordinate the complete development for the designated products including, but not limited to design and release, build and test activities, in accordance with standard operating procedures and the product delivery process.Incorporate customer requirements, regulations and product specifications into the design of the designated products, ensuring compliance with operational, cost, timing, safety, reliability, quality, and manufacturing feasibility parameters.Analyze products and formulates engineering conclusions by the application of engineering and/or mathematical principles and tools. Support Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) and Design for Manufacturing/Design for Assembly (DFM/DFA) in the development of the product.Write/compile engineering content for the following deliverables: engineering specifications and documentation, including DVP&R’s, 8D’s, GD&T, BOM, prototype control plans, key product characteristics, engineering changes and work orders.Consult and collaborate with personnel in various engineering and design activities relative to product development requirements. Support effective communications within the project team and the customer, supplier, manufacturing and quality communities with guidance from engineering management and senior engineering personnel. Maintain all appropriate documentation.Provide engineering direction and support to design personnel.Review and approve engineering designs. Review, approve, complete, and submit required change notices to ensure design outputs meet design inputs.Maintain good housekeeping of the area.Ensure adherence to company, departmental and health and safety systems and policies to meet legislative requirements.Supports Internal / External Audit efforts regarding ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949 Certification for remote site location (Group Office).Supports the requirements as detailed in Standard Operating Procedure 8000 (Quality Management System).Ensure employees work in the manner consistent with the organizations established objectives and targets utilizing protective equipment, devices, measures, and procedures as promulgated by state and federal regulations. Establish clear goals for workplace health and safety. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EducationBachelor’s degree (or bachelor’s equivalency) in Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience/Special Knowledge/SkillsAbility to apply academic and other engineering principles in the development of automotive components.Effective communication skills: able to communicate (written and verbal) clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles.Effective organizational skills and the ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines.Able to apply academic and engineering principles and familiarity with engineering tools such as DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, DFSS Tools, Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving, and Statistical Analysis in the development of automotive components.Familiarity with CAD systems and the ability to successfully navigate to provide engineering direction to the design personnel.Proficient knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and database applications.Awareness, Unity, Empowerment:At Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
