Assistant Professor/Clinical - Neurohospitalist This position is for a full‑time daytime/weekday clinical neurologist who specializes in managing neurological patients in a hospital setting, with particular emphasis on patients with stroke. The candidate will lead the consult team assisting in the management of all neurological patients in the hospital, including those in the emergency department, ward floors, and intensive care units. The position alternates two‑week blocks of hospital service and outpatient clinic focused on follow‑up care. Night and weekend call will be shared among all faculty. The ideal candidate will be fellowship‑trained in vascular neurology or neurology hospital medicine (neurohospitalist) and eager to participate in a multispecialty academic group practice that provides patient‑centered care rooted in evidence‑based medicine. The applicant should have expertise and training in stroke and cerebrovascular care for seriously ill patients, as well as other neurological emergencies requiring hospital admission, and neurological complications of systemic illnesses. Outpatient clinics will focus on hospital follow‑ups and preventive care. Participation in research, quality improvement and/or education projects is strongly encouraged. The successful candidate will have educational responsibilities to teach medical students, residents, and fellows in a hospital and clinical setting. The applicant should have accomplishments or prior faculty experience sufficient to merit appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Appointment at senior rank is possible depending on experience and prior academic achievement. The successful applicant will be responsible for clinical service, teaching, and clinical investigation. Provide consultative care of patients with neurological problems admitted to John Dempsey Hospital as well as outpatient follow‑up in Neurology Clinic at the Brain & Spine Institute. General neurology patients may be seen when/if subspecialty patients are not available. Teach medical students, medical residents, and neurology residents and fellows rotating on the neurology consult service at John Dempsey Hospital as well as in the outpatient clinic. Lead and develop clinical, education, research or quality improvement programs related to the care of neurological patients.
