Field Technician

Job Title

Holt of California is proud to be part of the elite group of Caterpillar dealers worldwide. We sell and service a wide-variety of equipment including large and small construction tractors, forklifts, and prime/stand-by-power generation.

This position is located in Stockton, CA.

Position Summary

Repairs and maintains electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial trucks at customers' sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Reads job order and observes, listens, and diagnoses all types of lift trucks in operation to determine malfunction to plan work procedures.
• Installs new ignition systems, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmission and other parts.
• Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and makes adjustments.
• Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired truck to verify conformance to specifications.
• Fabricates special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings.
• Removes and rebuilds transmissions and differentials.
• Removes and replaces engines.
• Performs complete brake repairs and adjustments.
• Diagnoses and repairs hydraulic systems.
• Completes and turns in repair documentation and paperwork on a daily basis.
• Drives to customers' location.
• Other duties may be assigned.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Ability to write service reports.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to fulfill the essential functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Education and/or Experience

• High school or GED; and/or five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have working knowledge of AC/DC electrical theory, power generation, control systems and safety related to electricity.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Must have a valid driver license and a clean DMV report. Must have a forklift Operator Safety Certificate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Compensations

Pay Range: $21.61 to 37.33 Hourly. Pay range dependent on knowledge, skills, and ability. Hourly rate of pay as negotiated with Operating Engineers, Local #3. Excellent company-paid benefits including medical, dental, retirement, vacations and holidays.
