Job Description Summary: MRI technologists operate MRI scanners that take images of patients’ bodies to assist with diagnostic testing. They are responsible for presenting clear images to physicians to provide an accurate diagnosis. MRI technologists ensure they follow safety standards, explain the MRI process to patients, monitor patients during scanning, monitor equipment functions, capture clear images, recognize abnormalities and irregularities, and understand when images need to be retaken. Responsibilities: Operate MRI scanners and produce diagnostic images. Present clear images to physicians and support accurate diagnosis. Explain the MRI process to patients and ensure patient comfort. Monitor patients during scanning for safety and cooperation. Monitor equipment functions to ensure image quality. Recognize abnormalities/irregularities in images. Determine when an image must be retaken. Minimum Training and Education: Graduate from an accredited school of radiologic technology. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA) or equivalent, or American Red Cross CPR/AED professional rescuer certification. Copy of academic degree or transcript required.
