Industrial Hygienist

Description Phlow is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Industrial Hygienist (CIH) to join our team at the Petersburg, VA manufacturing plant. Reporting to the Director of EHS, the successful candidate will be responsible for anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling occupational health hazards and ensuring a safe and compliant workplace environment. Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive industrial hygiene programs to monitor and control chemical, biological, and physical hazards. Conduct regular industrial hygiene surveys and assessments to identify potential health risks and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards. Sustain programs such as respiratory protection, hazard communication, hearing conservation, and risk assessments. Maintain and calibrate various sampling and monitoring equipment to ensure accurate data collection. Analyze and interpret data from industrial hygiene assessments to develop and recommend effective control measures. Provide technical guidance and training to employees on occupational safety and health practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and potent compound Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API). Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research & development, operations, and engineering to address and mitigate workplace hazards. Prepare and present detailed reports of findings from industrial hygiene assessments to leadership and recommend corrective actions. Conduct and review incident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in industrial hygiene and occupational health. The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $130,000, with the final offer determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and education. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is eligible to participate in Phlow's bonus and stock option programs. Requirements Experience & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field. Experience in chemical manufacturing or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial hygiene standards. Proficiency in using industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring equipment. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development. Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification is preferred. Competencies/Skills Technical proficiency in industrial hygiene software and tools. Ability to conduct detailed risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies. Strong leadership and team-building skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively. Working Conditions Work environment includes exposure to chemical materials and high noise areas. Must have a high consciousness for personnel and equipment safety. May be required to use a variety of personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators, gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing. Physical Requirements Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds routinely. Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, turning, and climbing. Ability to walk, stand, and climb stairs for extended periods. Work in various positions such as walking, standing, or sitting for prolonged durations.
