Position Description Torque by Ryder is immediately hiring a permanent full time experienced Mobile Auto and Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet in Dallas, Texas. We want the right Maintenance Repair Mechanic Technician to join us at Ryder to manage our fleet of Heavy Duty Trucks. Compensation & Benefits Hourly Pay: $35.00 per hour Ability to earn additional monthly performance incentive Flexible 40-hour work week (weekend premiums apply) Fuel card and company cell phone provided For mobile technicians, a service vehicle will be provided Additional training to level up Generous paid time off Medical, dental and vision insurance effective 30 days from hire date Life insurance and disability insurance options 401(k) savings plan with Ryder matching contributions Discount on purchase of Ryder common stock Employee discounts on automotive, mobile plans, travel and hotels Accredited tech school tuition reimbursement PPE & uniforms provided at no cost Paid job training and development Employee & customer referral bonus program Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred Vocational or technical certification; post-secondary degree or technical certifications preferred Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including: Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) Diagnostics and repairs (AC, electrical systems) Advanced skilled level repairs (major engine repairs, diesel after treatment or fuel injection repairs) Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred Commercial Driver License Class E preferred; CDL Class A preferred; other state driver’s license as required Two (2) years or more experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles Ability to: Understand and adhere to company policies Complete repair orders with the company established systems Create and maintain professional relationships at all levels (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors) Work independently and as part of a team Prioritize workload Proven hands-on mechanic, customer service, and account management skills Demonstrates customer service skills Strong relationship management skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment Self-starter and self-sufficient approach Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, and excellent time management Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices Entrepreneurial spirit Preventive Maintenance (PM230&PM298) within 90 days Brakes-Air (BA220&BA298) within 90 days Brake mechanics/inspectors FMCS 396.25 Hydraulic Brake (BH220&BH298) within 90 days Tire & Wheel TW220 within 90 days CF609 & A/C trained and qualified (AC220&AC298) within 180 days HD electrical – DR208 within 90 days Svc Island Support SBTIII trained (SBT220) and SBT Phase 2 within 180 days Complete 2 of the OEM On-Line diagnostic tool software courses as required by fleet mix Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor-vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years Important Note Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check; a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned. Responsibilities Interact with customers, exhibit account management skills to facilitate preventative maintenance, resolve repair issues, and discuss new repair estimates. Coordinate work schedule as required by customers. Road-test vehicles to identify causes of complaints, ensure quality of repair work, and deliver customer satisfaction. Preventive maintenance (PM) and vehicle repairs including: A/C & heater: Operate and inspect system, check compressor power, condenser, belt tension, identify leaks. Brakes-Air: Identify air brake components, operate brakes, detect irregular noises and leaks, perform air system tests, measure lining thickness, adjust brakes, perform brake repairs per BA298 after qualification. Brakes-Hydraulic: Road-test for operation, inspect leaks, check park brake, fluid level, lining thickness, adjust service brakes, perform repair per BH298 after qualification. Cargo handling/transfer, lift gates: Identify leaks, operate lift gate, add fluid, make minor adjustments. Charging systems: Inspect batteries, clean connections, check belts, test batteries, check alternator mounting, replace belts, perform basic charging system check. Clutch: Lubricate throw-out bearing, linkage, shafts, cables; identify proper operation. Cooling systems: Check coolant levels, inspect leaks, perform minor repairs such as hose replacements and fan shrouds, use refractometer, pressure tester, flush systems. Cranking system: Inspect batteries, cables, cranking motor; clean battery cables, replace batteries, charge and check batteries, replace or repair defective cables. Lighting system and accessories: Repair wiring problems, replace bulbs, lenses, simple light assemblies, sealed beams; install or replace accessories. Drive axles: Inspect housings for leaks, change oil and filter, clean breathers. Driveline: Lubricate, inspect for wear or damage. Gas engine – all engines: Check oil levels, identify noises and leaks. Fuel systems: Replace and prime fuel filter, inspect fuel lines and related components. Preventive maintenance: Proper lube techniques, tire inspection, brake check, battery check, under-vehicle check, initial fault code identification. Steering and non-driven axles and alignment: Lubricate grease fittings, adjust fluids, check and adjust toe, inspect steering components, adjust alignment, replace wheel seals. Suspension-chassis and cab: Identify makes and models, normal operation, minor air leaks, broken springs, excessive wear. Tire and wheel maintenance: Perform air pressure checks, tread depth check, replace or repair tires, perform tire PM checks, rotate tires. Vehicle coupling system (PM): Lubricate fifth wheel plate, operate slider mechanism. Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation. Perform work in compliance with all federal/provincial and corporate guidelines (safety, DOT). Use internal and external maintenance documents. Perform other duties as assigned. Ensure proper maintenance of all service, safety and environmental records to meet or exceed corporate and government requirements. Accountable for key maintenance measurements established by company policy for PMs, brakes, tires, wheels, and safety. Act as a mentor for SM II level.
