JOB SUMMARY

Maylor Foundation Contractors is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee our geotechnical and deep foundation construction projects across Florida from award through closeout. This role carries core ownership scheduling, budgets, client relationships, and subcontractor coordination — with the added expectation of deep FDOT and heavy civil experience and the seniority to train, mentor, and develop the Project Managers and Project Coordinators around you. The ideal candidate has led DOT-governed heavy civil work at scale, thrives under pressure, and takes genuine ownership of building up the people on their team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Planning & Scheduling

•     Develop detailed project schedules, milestone plans, and resource allocations from pre-construction through final completion.

•     Lead pre-construction planning including scope review, site logistics, submittals, permitting, and subcontractor coordination.

•     Procure and plan all materials and equipment needed for job sites; place orders ahead of schedule to prevent field delays.

•     Coordinate delivery of equipment and materials to jobsites.

Budget & Cost Management

•     Prepare and oversee project budgets and cost forecasts; track costs against the schedule of values and identify variances early.

•     Review and approve vendor invoices; manage change orders from identification through execution and billing.

•     Support field quantity tracking for progress billing and ensure timely owner invoicing each billing cycle.

•     Complete and approve pay apps to prime contractors.

Field Coordination & Client Communication

•     Conduct regular site visits to monitor production, address issues, and confirm safety compliance — maintain a visible field presence.

•     Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.

•     Provide clear, consistent project updates to clients and internal leadership; escalate risks and changed conditions proactively.

•     Collaborate daily with assigned Foremen on production rates, crew needs, and any field-to-office issues requiring resolution.

•     Serve as an escalation point and technical resource for other Project Managers and Project Coordinators on complex scheduling, budget, FDOT, or client issues.

Documentation & Compliance

•     Maintain complete project files including contracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, daily reports, and closeout documents.

•     Utilize construction management software, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Suite for project tracking, markup, and reporting.

•     Ensure all work is executed in compliance with contract specifications, FDOT standards, and applicable safety regulations.

•     Identify and document any scope deviations or potential claims in writing the day they occur.

Team Leadership, Training & Mentorship

•     Train, mentor, and develop Project Managers and Project Coordinators — building their scheduling, budgeting, FDOT, and client-management skills over time.

•     Onboard new Project Managers and Project Coordinators to Maylor's project controls, documentation standards, and construction management systems.

•     Review the work of less experienced PMs and coordinators on complex projects; provide direct, constructive feedback and course-correct issues early.

•     Help standardize project management processes and best practices across the department and share lessons learned from closed-out projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

•     5+ years in a Construction Project Manager role, including demonstrated experience managing FDOT and/or heavy civil, highway, or bridge construction projects.

•     Proven track record leading large, complex projects simultaneously, each at different phases of completion, in a public infrastructure or DOT-governed environment.

•     Direct experience with FDOT project delivery, DOT specifications, and public agency contracting processes required.

•     Prior experience training, mentoring, or supervising other Project Managers, Project Coordinators, or project team members strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

•     Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam Revu, and Adobe Acrobat; experience with Procore, Buildertrend, or similar platforms.

•     Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, geotechnical reports, specifications, and contract documents.

•     Advanced knowledge of construction cost estimating, CPM scheduling, and budget management across multiple concurrent projects.

Education

•     Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred —  or equivalent field experience.
