Unit Name: Med Tele

Patient Ratios: 4-5 patients per nurse

Unit Description

This is a 25-bed Medical Telemetry unit specializing in the care of patients with renal, urology, oncology, pulmonology, cardiology, and general medical-surgical needs. We prioritize safety and quality while maintaining high expectations for documentation compliance and processes related to central lines, Foley catheters, Clostridium difficile, and other hospital-acquired infections (HAIs).

Our team is dedicated to collaboration and support, assisted by charge nurses and the availability of clinical techs. The unit is equipped with:

• EKG machines
• Bladder scanners
• Sit to stand lifts
• Hoyer lifts
• Hover mats
• Alaris pumps
• Pyxis medication dispensing systems

Documentation System

We utilize Meditech - EBCDS for all documentation needs.

Scheduling Requirements

Staff are expected to work at least every third weekend and a minimum of three shifts per week. Floating to similar units (Ortho, Neuro, CCU, CDU, SSU, Observation, Rehab) may be required.

Nurse Leader Rounds are conducted daily for every patient, including pre-rounds to identify preferred names and personal connections, as well as post-rounds to coach on care quality and recognize excellence in patient care.

Candidate Profile

Required Skills:

• ACLS Certification
• BLS Certification
• Basic Dysrhythmia knowledge

Advanced Skills Needed

A variety of basic medical-surgical procedures may be performed on this unit.

Dress Code

Required uniforms include royal blue scrub tops and royal blue or black pants. Undershirts can be in grey, white, black, or royal blue.
