Job Title: RN ICU - Weekends Only

As a Registered Nurse in the ICU working exclusively on weekends, your input in enhancing patient care is both valued and encouraged. You will have opportunities to engage in open, collaborative discussions with your direct supervisor, as well as participate in formal avenues such as hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. Your contributions will help shape decisions that improve patient outcomes and advance the nursing profession.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-focused care that aligns with departmental needs and adheres to the standards of practice relevant to the state and specialty. In partnership with medical professionals and other care team members, the RN provides personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care utilizing established nursing frameworks such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.”

• Act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, demonstrating a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values to enhance patient experiences and clinical outcomes.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, and other tasks as directed by medical providers.
• Document care provided in the patient’s medical record promptly and thoroughly.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up care.
• Translate complex medical terminology to ensure clear understanding.
• Provide guidance on non-medical follow-up measures, including healthy lifestyle choices and disease prevention strategies.
• Prepare patients and families for effective self-management post-discharge.
• Implement evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives to meet and exceed quality standards.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, assess, customize, and deliver a holistic treatment plan that fosters recovery.

Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within one year of starting employment.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course certification must be obtained within one year of starting employment.
• Must possess a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Education: Associate Degree, Registered Nurse Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
